Implementation of the first Agroforestry. February 2020
Gratitude to the thirty brave people who appeared to implement the first agroforestry system on Monte. Between music, food and infoshots. Installed in an old orange grove, the grevílias, marioilas, aroeiras, myrtles, supporting the orange trees in the form of organic matter and shadow. Strawberries are scattered on the ground and vines along the air. The future is already on sight, with small holm oaks popping out so that one day they can install and occupy this space as a mature forest. Among these, many other species. Salamanders, ladybugs, springtails and even humans! Grown ups and small curious children, planting, harvesting, observing and learning with hands on the soil experience and interacting with this piece of land that now invites life.
First conceptual design

Monte da Estrela and ÉpicAnt welcomed our friends from Permalab and Southern Lights Project to create the first permaculture design that shows how the landscape can be more productive, more diverse and regenerative through the use of various water management techniques that avoid erosion and increase soil fertility.
