A little about us
ÉpicAnt is a sub-project of the family of Monte da Estrela - Country House and Spa. United by the same ecological principles, we work in cooperation for a more fertile Alentejo.
ÉpicAnt arises from the urgent need to develop more efficient, more resilient and healthier agricultural systems that are compatible with human presence.
All ÉpicAnt products come from family and organic production systems that work hand in hand with Nature.
We know we have a long way to go and we count on everyone's help. We are in a constant learning process and all feedback is welcome.
The ambition
The goal of this project is to create a diversified, alive and healthy, viable and scalable, agricultural system, capable of regenerating its soil and rehabilitating the water table by increasing the amount of organic matter, microbiology, water retention and permanent autochthonous species. Simultaneously creating and developing high quality products, in collaboration with local farmers, that can sustain the project itself and reward fairly all those involved, from the farmer to the consumer.
Epic Ant
The epic ant.
The ant is considered one of the most intelligent beings because of the way it works in cooperation with the other individuals of its species. They have a strong sense of community so they all work towards the same goal, to protect the queen. In the case of ÉpicAnt, the queen is Nature.
In the ecosystem, the ant plays a pivotal role. Such as soil decompaction, transport of seeds and inoculation of fungi in the soil.
